1 Respecting your privacy

Licence Ready Pty Ltd ACN 154 680 252 ("Licence Ready") is committed to compliance with privacy laws which apply to its business. This Privacy Policy applies to the Licence Ready website, WebApp and Mobile App and governs data collection and usage by Licence Ready generally. By using the Licence Ready website, the Learner, the Instructor (if any) and the Supervisor (if any) consent to the data practices described further below.

Words and terms which are defined in Licence Ready's Terms and Conditions and which are not specifically defined in this Privacy Policy have the meaning as specified in Licence Ready's Terms and Conditions.

This Privacy Policy outlines our personal information management practices. Specifically:

  • the types of personal information we collect and hold;
  • how we collect and hold personal information;
  • the purposes for which we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information;
  • the right to access and seek correction of personal information; and
  • how the Learner, the Instructor and the Supervisor may complain about privacy matters.

There are some matters to which this Privacy Policy does not apply. These are referred to in section 8 of this Privacy Policy.


2 What kinds of personal information do we collect and hold?

The personal information we collect and hold is what is reasonably necessary for our business functions and activities. When we collect and hold personal information, it is of the following kinds:

  • personal details relating to the Learner, the Instructor (if any) and the Supervisor (if any) such as name, addresses, driver licence number, telephone numbers, email address and age;
  • login details;
  • Location information: Our applications collect real-time information about the location of your device, as permitted by you.
  • whether the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) have taken up some of our other offerings (if any);
  • data that is uploaded by Learner, the Instructor (if any) and the Supervisor (if any) in connection with the use of the Service;
  • what, how and when any Learner uses or buys any Service from us; and
  • any stated or likely preferences of the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any).

Depending on the nature of any dealings with us, we may collect and hold other types of personal information in respect of the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any).

There is also information about computer hardware and software used the Learner, the Instructor (if any) and the Supervisor (if any) that is automatically collected by www.licenceready.com.au This information can include: IP addresses, browser type, access times and referring Web site addresses. This information is used by Licence Ready for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Licence Ready website.


3 How do we collect and hold personal information?

Collection of personal information: When we collect personal information about the Learner, the Instructor (if any) and the Supervisor (if any), we do so by making a record of it. We do this when:

  • the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) registers with us, for example to create an account;
  • the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) communicate with us online or otherwise use the Service;
  • the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) uploads data in respect of a Learner (for example, comments about a particular drive undertaken by a Learner);
  • the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) takes part in our promotions, competitions, testimonials, surveys and focus groups;
  • services are bought from us; and
  • the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) deals with us in other ways involving a need for personal information to be provided such as when Licence Ready is contacted in person or by phone.

we may collect and process information about your mobile device's GPS location (including the latitude, longitude or altitude of your mobile device) and the time the location information is recorded to customize the Services with location-based information and features.

We may also collect personal information about the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) by accessing data from other sources and then analysing that data together with the information we already hold about the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) in order to learn more about the likely preferences and interests of the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any).

Licence Ready uses Google Analytics and other tools to help us learn about who visits our site and what pages are being looked at.

When the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) visits our website, social media pages or mobile applications or clicks on any Licence Ready advertisements on the online media of other companies, we may collect information about the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) using technology which is not apparent to the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any), for example "cookies". Most of the personal information we collect and hold about the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) is from direct dealings. We may sometimes collect personal information from other sources.

Holding of personal information: Personal information we hold is generally stored in computer systems. These may be operated by us or by our service providers. If Licence Ready is holding personal information of the Learner, the Instructor or the Supervisor, we will take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

The Web App and Mobile App are available on Apple Inc.'s App Store and Google Play. Apple Inc and Google Inc, their Subsidiaries and Affiliates have their own Privacy Policies with respect to accessing, downloading and using any applications that are available on Apple Inc.'s App Store and Google Play.


4 Why do we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information?

When we collect, hold and use personal information, we do so primarily to sell and promote our services to the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) and to improve on the range of our offerings.

We disclose personal information we collect for purposes which are incidental to the sale and promotion of our services to the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any). As such, we may disclose personal information to service providers who assist us in our day-to-day business operations.

We disclose:

(i) personal information in respect of a Learner to that Learner's nominated Instructor (if any) or Supervisor (if any),

(ii) personal information of an Instructor in respect of a Learner to the Learner and any Supervisor, and

(iii) personal information of a Supervisor in respect of a Learner to the Learner and any Instructor.

We will also disclose:

(i) personal information in respect of a Learner (including any data provided by Instructions (if any) or Supervisors (if any) in respect of a Learner) to any government agency in Australia that allows for data to submitted in electronic form instead of a physical version of a Learner Driver Log Book, and

(ii) personal information to insurance companies and research organisations and government departments that research and study road safety.

We may collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information for other purposes which are within reasonable expectations or where permitted by law.

When marketing to the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any), your personal information is only ever used or disclosed for Licence Ready's own purposes and for the purposes of Solo Ready Pty Ltd. Solo Ready Pty Ltd is a company that is related a body corporate to Licence Ready. The Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) may opt out of any direct marketing. Our direct marketing materials will tell you how to do this.

We may de-identify personal information in respect of a Learner. We may do this for use and disclosure of the anonymous data to determine preferences and shopping patterns.

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose personal information in respect of a Learner to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.

However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.

In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located a different jurisdiction than the Learner, the Instructor or the Supervisor or Licence Ready. So if a transaction involves the services of a third-party service provider, then the personal information in respect of a Learner may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

Once a Learner, an Instructor or a Supervisor leaves our website or is redirected to a third-party website or application, that Learner, Instructor or Supervisor is no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website's Terms of Service.


5 How can the Learner, the Instructor or the Supervisor enquire about, access and correct personal information?

Access: We will provide each of the Learner, the Instructor (if any) and the Supervisor (if any) with access to any personal information we hold (except in limited circumstances recognised by law). If the Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) wishes to access personal information or has an enquiry about privacy, please contact our Privacy Officer at: sunder@licenceready.com.au

Before we provide personal information, we may require some proof of identity. We may charge a reasonable fee for giving access to the personal information if the request requires substantial effort on our part.

Please contact our Privacy Officer at one of the above contact points if a correction to personal information is sought.


6 How can a complaint be made about our management of personal information?

The Learner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) may contact our Privacy Officer at one of the above contact points in order to complain about a breach of this Privacy Policy. We may ask that the company be made in writing and to provide details about it.

We may discuss the complaint with our personnel and our service providers and others as appropriate.

Our Privacy Officer will investigate the matter and attempt to resolve it in a timely way. Our Privacy Officer will inform the Learner, the Instructor or the Supervisor (as appropriate) in writing about the outcome of the investigation. If our Privacy Officer does not resolve the complaint and no other complaint resolution procedures are agreed or required by law, our Privacy Officer will inform the Learner, the Instructor or the Supervisor (as appropriate) the complaint may be referred to the Privacy Commissioner for further investigation and will provide the Learner, the Instructor or the Supervisor (as appropriate) with the Commissioner's contact details.


7 Updates

This Privacy Policy is current at the date below. We may change it periodically without notice.


8 Other privacy terms and limits of this Privacy Policy

This is a Privacy Policy. There may be additional privacy notices and terms relevant to the Leaner, the Instructor (if any) or the Supervisor (if any) depending on the nature of your dealings with us.

We have separate charters concerning our employees. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the personal information of our employees in their capacity as such.
